They say, “from humble beginnings come great things” and there is no truer sentiment than that when discussing CP Dental.
As one of the largest privately owned dental groups in Queensland we currently employ over 60 people and have a total of 16 chairs across our two practices in Brisbane and Emerald. However our story begins 45 years ago, not with 60 people but with one man who started a then small business. In 1969 George Cocolas commenced practice in a one-chair surgery in Boundary Road, Coopers Plains. George quickly developed a strong patient following and in 1974 relocated to a two-chair practice in the current location of Coopers Plains Dental Surgery.
Between 1974 and 2005 new dentists including our four current Directors, Jonathan Cichero, Paul Ansell, Esther Cheng and Daniel Robbins, joined George in practice and dreams for the practice began to change and grow. After two major renovations Coopers Plains Dental Surgery became what it is today; a modern, progressive and thriving dental centre with ten large treatment rooms. In 2004, Coopers Plains Dental Surgery began offering services to rural areas in an arrangement with Queensland Health. This was an extremely significant step for the practice and something that has shaped the growth and expansion of CP Dental. We commenced a periodic service to Barcaldine in Central West Queensland and later expanded to include Longreach as well. This has proven a great success in providing dental care to locations with limited access to oral health service.
The demand for oral health services in Central Queensland proved to be so great that in 2009 our Directors opened privately owned Mayfair Ridge Dental Surgery in Emerald. In December 2013 the practice underwent a relocation and expansion, doubling in size from a 3-chair to 6-chair facility. Our team now comprises of Dentists, Oral Health Therapists, Dental Hygienists and a large number of ancillary staff all of whom are integral to delivering the CP Dental mission. Our team work tirelessly to provide the very best patient care and service, our strength comes from values that have been the foundation of CP Dental since those early days in 1974.
CP Dental is dedicated to providing not only excellence in dental care but also to the safety and wellbeing of all staff, patients and visitors to our practices. We are committed to the legal and ethical requirements placed upon us by current Work Health and Safety legislation (Work Health & Safety Act 2011). We invite all staff, patients and visitors to bring to the attention of practice management anything that they feel could affect their well being and safety whilst at the practice. We value and welcome feedback and look forward to hearing your comments and suggestions
